Firstly thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. As a first time blogger I'm not really sure what to write about except for my hiking adventures. Posts will range from basic hike info for people wanting to try the same hike and my actual experiences on the trail. If there is something you want me to talk about hit me up and I will get onto it asap.

Moreton Island Hike Jan 2018

DAY 1 After meeting at port of Brisbane we parked the car and boarded the barge. Going through our gear we discovered Seb didnt bring shoes and packed his gear in the oldest military style pack I have seen for a long time. 75mins on the barge had us arriving at the docking area north of Tangalooma resort on Moreton Island. Looking out over the handrails on the barge you get to soak in the beauty of the island. Moreton island has the largest vegetated sand dunes in the world and several ships that were sunk close to the coastline making perfect artificial reefs for snorkeling.  After the vehicles disembarked we excitedly walked down the gangway and turned left travelling in a northerly direction. Seb quickly found out that pack hiking barefoot on the beach is okay for about 2km and started to get sore heels. Passing by scores of starfish washed up on the shore of west beach (also known as surf beach) we stopped in under a shady tree and set up for lunch near an old wreck. Godd

Hardings Paddock - Goolman Lookout

20 mins from Ipswich city you will find an awesome little area for hiking, camping and catching a sunset. Being the closest place to hike in relation to my house I find myself here ALOT!  With the option of doing the 9+ Km horse track circuit around Rocky Knoll or the shorter route straight to Goolman Lookout both choices will surely get your heart pumping. I have hiked every 'marked' trail in the Flinders Goolman National Park but this post will only cover my last hike.  Parking at the first entrance and information area will be the best option to hike the Horse Track as it is a complete loop.  Heading anti-clockwise following the horse trail markers will lead you first to Rocky Knoll lookout. Be aware this is a rather steep trail! It is very easy to navigate because it has been recently graded and is a well used fire trail. Walls of Jerusalem 2018

Walls of Jerusalem 2018 This adventure started almost 8 months earlier when Erica started planning my surprise birthday hiking adventure. We snagged super cheap flights from Brisbane to Launceston and a quick trip turned into four days in Walls of Jerusalem followed by six days on the Overland Track. Monday 05 Feb Our first day started off with a hearty brekky at Great Scot before taking our hire car for a spin out to Mole Creek caves. We took the Great Cathedral tour through Marakoopa Cave and were blown away by the crystalline structures. In the main cavern the cave ceiling looked like the night sky illuminated by the green glow of glow worms trying to attract some prey.   A further 45 min drive down dirt roads had us taking a break for lunch on the banks of the Rowallan Dam. We already started our hiking style lunches with tuna and noodles. I would have preferred a feast of rainbow trout that you could catch in the dam but never brought my fishing gear
